9 May, 2026 - 5:30pm to 7:30pmPart 1: Peer Modelling and Willingness to Communicate
This study explores whether short near-peer role model videos can increase learners’ willingness to communicate (WTC) during task-based discussion activities. Drawing on classroom data from Japanese university students, results show a small but consistent increase in WTC following video exposure, suggesting that simple pre-task modelling can meaningfully influence participation.
Part 2: Using AI Image Tasks: A Hands-on Workshop
Participants will experience and evaluate a ready-to-use classroom task with AI-supported output. You will complete the task from a student perspective, reflect on its impact, and consider how to adapt it for your own teaching context.
What to bring:
A smartphone (with camera)
A Google (Gemini) account (free, recommended for image generation)
A pen
