This interactive workshop explores practical ways to introduce students to culture and cross-cultural understanding. Focusing on definitions, features, and metaphors of culture, Kip will share activities designed to promote language skills, cultural curiosity, critical thinking, and intercultural awareness.

Participants will take part in pair and group activities and receive ready-to-use classroom handouts and teaching ideas.

Kip Cates ( (Professor Emeritus, Tottori University) has worked in global education and language teaching for 40 years. He is a founder of JALT’s Global Issues SIG, has travelled in 50 countries, and speaks nine languages.
